The night took me,
threw me down into the abyss.
My mind snapped
then all was dark.
Tendrils of a nameless fear.
Suffocating
yet seductive,
alluring,
calling me to my doom.
Muted light, the soft glow
of a silvered moon
shadowed by cloud,
lurking on the horizon.
My fate is preordained.
The fog rolls in.
I push back with all my strength,
but I am wearied.
The pull to let go becomes
compelling,
irresistible,
assured.
I’m gone.
It must surely be a dream.
Obscured by a misty veil,
the vaguest of impressions.
Hair,
tooth,
claw.
My vision fades to black.
Can’t hear,
can’t feel,
can’t taste.
But movement, frenzied movement.
And smell, yes smell!
Blood.
Then nothing.
Now in the darkness,
senses gone,
locked within my brain.
Waiting for oblivion
that never comes.
Alert, but unable
to perceive.
A hint of sound.
Is it a scream?
I can't be sure.
Time ticks,
or does it?
I don't even know.
What use is time in the dark?
But I fear,
oh, how I fear!
Is this a dream?
or a nightmare?
Then, suddenly, it all comes back.
Oh! What horror have I made?
This time,
the scream is mine.
As the silver moon rescinds its power,
I awaken and remember
everything.
And the torment of my reality
will be with me
forever ☠.
